STEINHARDT SCHOOL OF CULTURE, EDUCATION, AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT New York University

The Program in Vocal Performance in the Department of Music & Performing Arts Professions at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development is seeking candidates for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the Music Associate Professor level to begin September 1, 2014.

The Vocal Performance Program has approximately 175 full-time students who are studying for undergraduate, master’s, advanced certificate, and doctoral degrees in music theatre performance, classical performance, and vocal pedagogy. We are looking for candidates who can augment and extend the current strengths of the program.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Candidates for the position must have an earned master’s degree (prior to start date) and must have a record of music direction, conducting, and vocal coaching at both the university and professional level.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in song performance in classical voice and music theatre, private vocal coaching, musical direction for both opera and music theatre productions, as well as preparing and conducting full orchestras for those productions. Participation in faculty meetings, committees, and other service appropriate to a university faculty member is expected.
