Position Summary:
The Utah State University Music Department invites applications for a full-time tenure track position: Assistant Professor and Head of Voice Area. This is a nine-month, academic year position starting August 2016.
Responsibilities:
• Recruit and teach undergraduate voice majors.
• Teach applied voice and courses in vocal pedagogy and voice techniques.
• Responsible for organizing and administering all aspects of the voice area, including hiring and supervision of adjunct voice faculty, voice teacher student assignments, scheduling of juries and recital previews, and recitals.
• Teach other courses as appropriate based on the candidate's qualifications and departmental need.
• Continuing professional activity as a performing artist is required.
• Provide service to the Music Department and the University as assigned.

The Music Department
Housed in the Chase Fine Arts Center Complex, departmental facilities include teaching/rehearsal space, faculty offices, the 1800-seat newly remodeled Kent Concert Hall, and the award-winning 400-seat Caine Performance Hall. The Department offers the Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy, Bachelor of Music Education, and Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy, as well as Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance & Pedagogy, Performance – Guitar, and Conducting - Choral. Job Requirements
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctorate in voice performance from an accredited university or conservatory. (ABD may be considered but doctoral degree must be completed within the first year of appointment. ABD candidates will be hired at rank of instructor. Following completion of the doctorate the tenure clock will start and the candidate will be moved into the rank of Assistant Professor.)
• Demonstrated effectiveness as an applied voice instructor at the university level
• Successful record of professional performance
• Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collegial environment are required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ideal candidates will have a record of effectiveness as a teacher of vocal pedagogy at the university level
