Job Description / Duties

The School of Arts and Letters at Truman State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Music (Voice-Tenor/Baritone/Bass). This is a full-time, tenure-eligible position in the Department of Music to begin August 15, 2016.

Responsibilities:
•Teach undergraduate and graduate applied voice
•Teach undergraduate vocal diction
•Teach literature & pedagogy classes and supervise degree recitals as required
•Teach Opera Workshop (production) and Opera Chorus
•Teach a music appreciation class, such as one on Hollywood and Broadway
•Academic advising and mentoring

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications:
•Experience and/or demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness in applied voice
•Experience and/or demonstrated potential for recruiting music majors
•ABD in Music

Preferred Qualifications:
•Completed doctorate in music
•Experience in opera performance and/or opera production
•Experience and/or demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness in music appreciation courses
•Commitment to the liberal arts and sciences as a teacher-scholar, with student development and accomplishment as the highest priority
•Strong oral communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills
