Job Description / Duties
DePauw University http://www.depauw.edu/music/, a nationally ranked liberal arts college with one of the first Schools of Music in the country, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Applied Voice (Baritone, Bass-Baritone, Bass) beginning August 2017. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate applied voice, inclusive of art song and opera, and building and maintaining a voice studio (e.g., recruiting). Teaching may also include musical theatre, vocal jazz, cross-cultural genres, with interdisciplinary experiences highly preferred. Responsibilities could also include teaching other voice area courses, such as diction for singers, vocal pedagogy, musical theatre scenes, performing opera scenes, and solo vocal literature, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the School of Music. As our students often seek a wide range of vocal experiences, promoting good vocal health and development in their applied studies is a must.
Qualifications / Required Skills

A completed doctorate, experience teaching at the university level, and evidence of scholarly/artistic activity are required. A commitment to undergraduate teaching in a forward-thinking and innovative context is essential.

The DePauw University School of Music recently launched the 21st-Century Musician (21CM) Initiative, a complete reimagining of the skills, tools and experiences necessary to create musicians of the future instead of the past—flexible, entrepreneurial musicians who find diverse musical venues and outlets in addition to traditional performance spaces, develop new audiences, and utilize their music innovatively to impact and strengthen communities. Our program is the only required multi-course entrepreneurial music curriculum in the country. Salary: Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
