Job Description Summary

Furman University seeks applicants for a full-time position in studio voice beginning August 2017. Soprano and mezzo-soprano voice types are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a tenure-eligible position with rank and salary to be determined by the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Primary teaching responsibilities will include studio voice with additional teaching assignments in voice related courses such as lyric diction, vocal literature, vocal pedagogy or lyric theatre. The successful candidate will maintain an active performing career and regularly perform both on and off campus while participating in normal non-teaching departmental and university duties.

The department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding performer with an earned doctorate or demonstrated professional equivalency.

Demonstrated successful teaching of all voice types at the college/university level.

Comprehensive knowledge of standard vocal literature and a record of student recruitment.
