Job Description / Duties

The Department of Music seeks a dynamic faculty member with a commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, with excellent teaching and recruiting skills, to serve as Assistant Professor of Vocal Studies and Director of Opera. This is a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2018.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate applied voice to students majoring in music whose primary instrument is voice. The successful candidate may also teach advanced undergraduate courses in the instructor's area of specialization with consideration for departmental needs.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Tenor, Baritone, or Bass
DMA in vocal performance preferred, or equivalent professional experience and proven artistry as a performer. ABD may also be considered.

Demonstrated excellence teaching undergraduate applied voice.

Record of creative activity (performance) and/or scholarship

Experience in operatic stage directing preferred.

Teach undergraduate applied voice, including teaching and coaching vocal performance in scene study, solo, and audition techniques.

Conduct, coordinate, and administer the Flora L. Thornton Opera Program.

Direct the annual opera production.

Collaborate with faculty on the Heidelberg Summer Music Program
