The National Association of Teachers of Singing has selected 12 members to participate in the 2015 NATS Intern Program, a 10-day forum that pairs experienced and recognized master teachers of voice with talented, young professionals in the profession.

This year’s class includes teachers who primarily teach in university settings as well as those who operate independent studios. This year's interns will work with master teachers Mary Ann Hart, Marilyn Mims, Don Simonson and Craig Tompkins at University of Nevada, Las Vegas from June 9-18. Kathryn Proctor Duax is director of this year's program, while Tod Fitzpatrick is the on-site coordinator.

More than 60 applicants were considered for the prestigious program, which has been in existence since 1991. Within a format designed to promote the dynamic exchange of ideas and techniques, the program’s goal is to improve substantially the studio teaching skills of these promising young teachers. Each intern will teach four lessons to two students and perform in a master class under the supervision of a master teacher.

The NATS Intern Program is held annually. Application materials for 2016 will be available in late summer. If you are interested in contributing to the support of the program, donations can be made to the James McKinney Memorial Fund through the NATS Foundation.
