What's New > Kathryn Proctor Duax Keeps Giving
"I never dreamed I would be this involved in NATS!" says Past President Kathryn Proctor Duax. Her deep engagement with NATS for over the decades led to her recent decision to create a challenge to NATS members who give to NATS in 2019 to celebrate our 75th Anniversary. Her gift will match gifts from new donors made to NATS 75th Anniversary Fund, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $20,000, doubling the value of these contributions.
A mezzo soprano, Duax has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Florentine Opera, Minnesota Bach Society, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Summer Musicals, Wisconsin Public Radio, Oshkosh Symphony, Chippewa Valley Symphony, Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra, Zeitgeist, and has sung many recitals in the Midwest.
She was a professor of music at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, for 37 years, until her retirement in 2007. Today, her former students are successful teachers, music therapists and performers, including several international artists in opera and musical theater.
She spent many years serving her university and community, and her leadership of and service to NATS at the local, state and national level are outstanding. She is a Past President of NATS, and during her service on the Board of Directors, she fostered much growth in the Student NATS (SNATS) program. She also has a deep interest in the growth of the intern program.
"I think of NATS as a place to grow, giving members many advantages and opportunities to keep working with people in our field. There's so much to learn from each other. You can't do it all by yourself," she said. " NATS membership benefits us for a lifetime!"
We welcome your gift at a level that is feasible to you.
Join as we celebrate 75 outstanding years of service to the profession and look ahead to what the future holds.
